About WASB Advocacy

The WASB Government Relations staff advocates for the WASB Legislative Agenda and the policies adopted at the annual Delegate Assemblies, and provides regular updates to members so they can effectively communicate with their state and federally elected officials.

During the 2007-08 legislative session, the WASB successfully fought to increase state aids to school districts, maintain the inflationary increase in school district revenue limits, prevent an increased in the delayed aid payment to schools, prevent the elimination of Medicaid reimbursements for school-based services, and promote legislative support for improving the state's assessment system.

During the 2005-06 legislative session, the WASB successfully fought to increase state aids to school districts, align the state's special education laws with the federal laws to improve student achievement, and prevent a reduction in school district revenue limits.
