Tim has served on the Elk Mound school board for 16 years, serving as president the last 10 years. During these years, the board has been actively engaged in development activities to improve its effectiveness in boardsmanship, community engagement and increased student achievement. In that effort, the Elk Mound board members have worked with the WASB on a plan that includes two weekends per year in which they reflect on their goals through self evaluation, data information and set new goals. In addition, the Elk Mound District has made a five-year commitment to a research project related to the board's effect on student achievement.

He has served as a delegate for his board to the delegate assembly, testified before the Legislature's Joint Finance Committee, and represented the Region 4 area for five years. Tim has also served the National School Boards Association on the policy and resolutions committee, nominating committee, and as a delegate to the annual convention. Tim is a registered nurse working as a case manager for Northwest Wisconsin Homecare, caring for homebound and hospice patients.
