An application is required for all openings. Once on file, copies of all Stage One documents will be sent along with the completed Stage Two of the application process to the district.
Documents in the Stage One file include: (Note: Both an Application and Résumé now are required.)
a. An application.
b. Current résumé (Refer to the Stage One application sections III through VII.)
c. Wisconsin Superintendent License or proof of eligibility and include a copy of current professional license and any correspondence indicating eligibly for WI District Administrator’s License. In the event there is not enough time to request original transcripts, copies may be submitted along with proof of request for original transcripts. Copies of transcripts will be sent to each district for which you complete Stage Two of the application process.
The Stage One application materials will be kept on file for one year; update only if you have changes affecting the information relative to the Stage One application materials.
Within approximately five business days of mailing your application, you should receive an e- mail confirming the receipt of your Stage One application materials.
Updating materials When updated Stage One materials are received, the previous Stage One materials in your file are discarded. If you have sent original transcripts to the WASB office as part of your Stage One materials file, the original transcripts will be kept in your Stage One materials until updated. Thus, any transcript copies sent to the WASB office when applying for an additional position in the same search year will be shredded.
STAGE TWO of the Application Process
Stage two application information is specific to each district.
The Brochure (not part of the application) The brochure provides information, in more detail than the vacancy announcement, about the district and the community. You will also find the Schedule of Activities and the Vacancy Announcement on the last page of the brochure.
Note:In the event a brochure is not created for a district the Schedule of Activities and the Vacancy Announcement will be found on the fourth page of the Stage Two application information materials.
The letter of intent is now optional. If using a letter of intent, it should be written to the district search committee and should reflect the bolded points in the Vacancy Announcement section of the brochure—points that are important to the district.
Schedule of Activities. Note: Not part of the application, found on the last page of the brochure The timeline of important events related to the superintendent search; check the Schedule of Activities frequently, as unforeseen circumstances may require a change in the Schedule of Activities.
Vacancy Announcement. Note: Not part of application, found on the last page of the brochure The vacancy announcement is for your information and to use when writing the letter of intent.
Stage Two of the Application Process. a. Four or Five Essay questions. (Page Two)
i. Enter your name at the top of each page.
ii. Answer one question per page—Limit answer to one page.
iii. Single or double spaced using a font size minimum of 10pt.
iv. Use specific examples.
b. Certification Statement. (Page Two)
c. Please answer "related information." (Page Three)
d. Please answer “Where did you hear about this position?” This helps us in posting future positions.
Letters of Recommendation are sent to the district with the completed Stage Two application materials. These are not kept on file.
a. University Credentials sent directly from the university are kept in the Stage One application materials file, and treated the same as original transcripts.
E-mail confirmation.
An e-mail confirmation will be sent within approximately five business days. Within one to two business days following the close of an application deadline you will receive an e-mail confirmation that your Stage Two materials have been received. If for any reason you do not receive this e-mail please call Kristin Ruedi at 608.257.2622. It is important for you to know that your materials were complete and arrived in time. You may submit both your Stage One and Stage Two application materials at the same time. However, keep in mind if your Stage One information is missing required materials, there is less time to get those documents to the WASB.
