Judging is Underway in Madison for WASB’s Write and Illustrate Contest
(posted 6/19/08) Reading teachers from across the state are excited to be in Madison to judge books from this year’s WASB Write and Illustrate Contest. Here’s what some of the judges had to say about this year’s entries. “I love reading and I love working with kids. It’s nice to see how their talent develops as they progress. It’s nice to see the creativity of the students come through in these books.” - Cindy Robertson, Burlington Area School District “Looking at all of these wonderful books written by these great kids…it’s just very impressive. It’s fun finding something great. There are a lot of talented students this year.”- Bonnie Corcoran, consultant, Houghton Mifflin “It’s very exciting to read such a wide-array of different stories. I’ve been reading the fourth and fifth grade books and I’ve been wowed by their work.” -Tracy Friedemann, Horicon Public School District Exactly 500 books were received from school districts representing every region of the state. This year’s winners will be recognized at the Regional Meetings scheduled in September and October.
