A Leadership 'State of Mind'

Put yourself in a more relaxing leadership "State of Mind" while keeping your focus on the spirit and purpose of the 87th State Education Convention.

The State Education Convention networking reception offers leaders an opportunity to enjoy the high-caliber artistry of one of Wisconsin's top music educators and enjoy light hors d'oeuvres as they make connections with colleagues from throughout the state.

Energetic interpretations of contemporary and standard jazz hits will be performed by State of Mind, a six-piece band that has backed legends such as Chuck Berry, Martha and the Vandellas, The Drifters, The Platters, The Coasters and many more.

Performing on drums with State of Mind is Barry Applewhite, who is the music curriculum specialist for Milwaukee Public Schools and president-elect for the Wisconsin Alliance for Arts Educators. The band also includes James Conyers on lead vocals and trombone, Tony Edison on vocals and sax, Mike Lewandowski on guitar, Chris Heroldt and Delwin Roland on keys and Steve King on bass.

Informal connections built among school leaders is an important purpose of the State Education Convention that helps propel public education forward.

Light hors d'oeuvres will be provided with entertainment to registered convention participants.
