Asian Thematic Year

With the help of its social studies/gifted and talented coordinator and 2006 Japanese Fulbright Scholar, Julianne Born, this small school district incorporated an Asian theme into its 2006-07 school year. A committee of volunteer teachers from the district’s schools created a monthly topic for study. Based on this topic, each school in the district created a monthly bulletin board for visitors to view upon entering the building. The community was kept abreast of all activities surrounding this special year through the district’s monthly newsletter.
