Educating for Hearts as Well as Minds
Michele Borba, Ed. D
Educator, Author and
Educational Psychologist
We know that anxiety, bullying, depression, suicide, substance abuse, disrespect for authority, incivility, and cheating have a profoundly negative effect on our students, our communities, and the achievement of our nation's schools.
In Thursday's General Session, Dr. Borba will cite that of all the interventions available, one is largely overlooked; cultivating our students' moral intelligence—their capacity to decipher right from wrong, choose what's right, and behave morally.
Join her to explore the latest research that confirms that character can be learned and how character education can enhance student's pro-social behaviors including honesty, integrity, tolerance, respect, kindness, and fairness.
Michele Borba, Ed.D. is an internationally renowned educator, educational psychologist and award-winning author. She appears frequently as a parent expert on the "Today Show" and on countless TV and radio talk shows. She is a regular contributor to "iVillage," a popular Web site for women and parents. Her work has brought her as close as Jefferson, Wisconsin and other communities throughout North America, and has taken her as far away as Europe, Asia and the South Pacific. Wherever she travels, her message remains: building moral intelligence is our best hope for tomorrow's world.
