School Board Governance.

Citizens’ expectations for participation are evolving to reflect economic and technical changes in our society. Look here for resources you can use to effectively engage with your community as well as engagement examples from Wisconsin school districts.
The Guide for Candidates provides information on the qualifications and qualities of effective school board members.
The School District Election Schedule is a reference for common, union high and unified school districts for use throughout the primary and election season.

Know Your District assessment form can be used to learn about the organizational structure of your school district.

Policymaking: Through policy, the board sets the goals for the district and provides direction for administrators and others to follow while working toward achieving those goals.
Citizen Advocacy: The methods by which school boards provide for citizen involvement in policy or other school district decision making vary from school district to school district. It is important that citizens find out what methods their local school board has in place for involving students, parents, citizens and others in decision making.
