Today’s challenges require school board members to have a vast range of knowledge and experience in school law, finance, effective boardsmanship, policy, community engagement, lobbying, special education and parliamentary procedure, just to name a few. WASB has an excellent line-up of events for both new and veteran members to improve their board development skills and knowledge of public education topics and issues. School leaders from across the state meet and discuss solutions to today’s challenges throughout the year.
Highlights

Regional Events	New Board Member Gatherings and Fall Regional Meetings are your chance to connect with school leaders from around your region, meet with your regional WASB director and celebrate local accomplishments.
Spring Academy	Designed specifically for new board members in their first term, a touch of the basics of finance, legal, board governance and policy.
Presidents/Leadership Conference	For presidents and veteran board members, this conference will strengthen your leadership skills and highlight the hottest topics in education.
Legal Knowledge	Our experienced staff attorneys provide education that you need on a variety of school law related topics in three important events throughout the year – the Effective Bargaining Seminar, the Employment and Labor Law Seminar and the School Law Seminar.
Advocate for Students	WASB’s Government Relations staff provide you with the tools you need to advocate for your students at the annual Legislative Advocacy Conference and the bi-annual Day at the Capitol.
State Education Convention	The can’t miss event of the year, join us in Milwaukee each January for over 80 sessions on a wide-variety of topics, unparalleled networking and an exhibit hall full of a diverse selection of over 250 exhibitors ready to meet your needs.
